Thank to everyone who came out to our Celebration of Learning and made it such a wonderful evening! It was so great to see all of you again and watch as you were shown what our class has been learning so far this year. I loved the excitement in the room as the students showed you all the things they were so excited about.
As we move towards the end of the year we will be working hard and exploring new ideas. We are wrapping up magnets in science and will be moving on to our Hot and Cold unit. We will be connecting this to our Iqualiut unit in social as well.
In our writing we have been creating fractured fairytales where we write familiar fairy tales with different characters and endings. It has been a lot of fun! Some examples are "The 3 Little Ants and the Big Bad Cat" and "The 3 Little Sharks and the Big Bad Fish". We have also been trying out our drama skills with some fairy tale readers theatre. We definitely have some talent in our room!
In math we are becoming subtraction experts and are learning different strategies to help us solve our number sentences. The grade 2's have been working extremely hard on double digit subtraction and are doing really well. It's been fun to watch everyone grow in their math ability while teaching each other, playing math games and working as a team to solve problems together. They amaze me each and everyday with the way they are understanding and connecting with their learning.
As you all know we LOVE books in our class. I cannot thank each and every one of you who donated a book to our classroom during the book fair!! We have been loving reading them every day through out the week. Another highlight has been the addition of 600 new books to our classroom library! I have been working hard to get them all organized so we can dive into these new books. A big thank you to the school for getting them for us!
Life is good in our class and we are so excited to see where the end of the year takes us. I will be posting weekly updates of what events are coming up as we have a very busy couple of months ahead of us!
Till next time!
