What a fun month January was! So many lightbulb moments happening and ideas clicking. The growth we have had in reading this month has been amazing! I love seeing the kids discover new books and develop a greater love of reading. We are just wrapping up our penguin research with making posters and writing in our Penguin, Penguin books. We have been learning a lot about "juicy words" (adjectives) and have been trying to use them in our writing to make it more exciting! There have been lots of humongous whales and terrifying sharks being written about in our room. We have also been doing some ninja math this month, which means sneaking around the room to find our partner who has the same number sentence to solve as us using our math strategies. We've had Grade 1 ninjas working on addition up to 20 and Grade 2 ninjas working on double digits! We love math! We have been reading aloud "The Enourmous Crocodile", which is a book by Roald Dahl who is one of Miss Appleton's favorite authors. We are absolutely loving it and if you want to hear a good story ask us what it's about! Other highlights of the month were getting to meet our book buddies from Wilson, going skating, Mission Impossible, drumming in music and Bunch of Munsch. I can't wait to see what the fabulous month of February will bring us!
Until next time!
